Blogs Can Help you Promote and Grow Your Home-Based Business

My name is Traci and I am a blog-aholic. I blog about my children, I blog about my pastimes, I blog about my fears, my hopes, my businesses, my vents and my aspirations.

My blogging addiction took root on a quiet Sunday afternoon when I was sorting through photographs to send to my children’s grandparents. As I started to write short little blurbs on the back of the photos, I decided that there had to be an easier way. I asked some fellow at-home moms for suggestions on a message board forum and someone directed me to Blogger.com. I created my first blog/journal where I uploaded pictures of my children and told personal stories about them. Their long-distance grandparents were thrilled, and I was hooked. Seven personal blogs, and one paid blogging position later, I have made blogging my home-based business.

Even if you are not ready to take the leap into blogging on a “full-time” basis, you can create a blog to promote your current business. For example, my cousin and her husband own a home-based decorative painting business where they paint children’s murals and detailed artwork on people’s walls. When my cousin showed me photographs of their work, but said that they did not have a web site yet, I suggested a blog.
